ghd makes three hair dryers and the naming does not help you choose. Here is the plain version.
| Dryer | Ours | Who it's for |
|---|---|---|
| ghd air | $268.45 | The workhorse. Everything most people need, nothing they don't. |
| ghd helios | $355.08 | Lighter, faster, quieter. Aeroprecis airflow for a smoother finish. The one to buy. |
| ghd Speed | $523.95 | Twin-turbo, built for back-to-back salon use. Overkill at home unless your hair is very thick. |
helios or Speed?
This is the real decision, and most people should buy the helios. It is $355.08 against $523.95, it is lighter in the hand, and for one head of hair a day the Speed's extra power is doing nothing for you.
Buy the Speed if your hair is genuinely thick and long and your blow-dry is a 20-minute job, or if you are a stylist drying six heads a day. That is what it was built for.
What about the air?
Still a good dryer. At $268.45 it is the cheapest way into a professional-grade motor. If budget is the constraint, buy the air and spend the difference on a decent brush - you will get more out of that than out of a fancier dryer.
