Questions we get asked +

What's the best shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair?
Kérastase Chroma Absolu, L'Oréal Vitamino Color Spectrum and Pureology Hydrate are the three we recommend most. Chroma Absolu suits coloured hair that's also sensitised, Vitamino Color is the everyday option, and Pureology is sulfate-free for colour that fades fast. Fine hair can switch to Pureology Hydrate Sheer or Pure Volume. See our sulfate-free shampoo for coloured hair guide.

How long should I wait to wash my hair after colouring?
We suggest 48 to 72 hours if you can, so the colour has time to settle before the first shampoo. After that, wash in lukewarm water rather than hot and try not to wash daily. The first few weeks after colour is when a gentle shampoo and conditioner make the most difference.

Do you stock colour-depositing shampoo or conditioner?
For colour top-ups, evo Fabuloso Pro Custom Colour Conditioner deposits pigment between appointments. For toning, the purple and blue options are Vitamino Color Spectrum Purple and Blue Shampoo, Pureology Strength Cure Blonde Purple Shampoo and Strength Cure Blonde Conditioner. These keep tones fresh. They won't change your colour or cover regrowth. More in keeping blonde from going brassy.

What's a good leave-in for coloured hair?
Pureology Color Fanatic Multi-Benefit Leave-In Spray is the one we hand out most. Spray it on towel-dried hair before styling; it detangles, adds heat protection and softens. Kérastase Chroma Absolu Serum Chroma Thermique is the heat-protecting option if you blow-dry every day. Read about Color Fanatic's 21 benefits.

What does the Chroma Absolu Soin Acide Chroma Gloss do?
It's an acidic rinse-out treatment used after shampoo to boost shine on coloured hair and leave the surface smoother. Think of it as an at-home gloss top-up. Use it once a week or when your colour starts looking dull, then condition as normal.

Should I use Kérastase or Pureology on coloured hair?
Both are good. Pureology is sulfate-free and vegan, with simple, concern-based ranges. Kérastase has a deeper set of treatments and more texture in the formulas. If your hair is fine or your scalp gets oily, Pureology tends to suit. If it's thick and sensitised, Chroma Absolu. Full comparison: Kérastase vs Pureology.
