Thinking About Hair Extensions? An Honest Guide
What extensions are really like day to day, the different methods, and how to keep them looking natural — straight from our team.
Extensions can be brilliant — length when you've been growing your hair out for years, or thickness through the ends that just won't grow past a certain point. They're also a commitment, so it's worth going in with a clear picture of what they're actually like.
The look you can achieve now is a world away from the old clip-ins. Done well, you genuinely can't tell where your hair ends and the extension begins. The key word is "done well" — colour-matched properly, placed to suit your head shape, and cut in so they blend. That's the part that takes skill, and it's where a good consultation earns its keep.
The methods, in plain terms
Tape extensions are popular because they sit flat, they're comfortable, and they're quick to apply and move up as your hair grows. They suit most hair types and they're gentle when they're looked after. Other methods have their place too, and we'll talk you through what suits your hair density and the result you want at your consult rather than pushing one option.
The honest part
Extensions need maintenance. You'll come back every six to eight weeks or so to have them moved up as your own hair grows out, and they ask for a little more care at home — brushing properly, drying the roots, and being gentle when you're washing. None of it is hard, but it's a routine, and it's better to know that before you commit than be surprised by it after.
If that all sounds doable, you'll love them. The best first step is a quick consultation so we can match your colour, talk through cost and upkeep honestly, and make sure they're the right call for your hair.
